We started The Village Co. because we were done pretending to do it all.

We didn’t just need a babysitter. We needed backup.

So we built it. Two Waikato mums - 4 children and a modern, human-first network for parents and sitters who want something better.

We match families with background-checked sitters based on personality, availability, and real-life needs. Whether it’s a one-off date night, regular support, hotel stays, or workplace childcare perks, we make getting childcare simpler and way less stressful.

Why we started

The Village Co. was created by parents who were juggling kids, work, and everything in between — and constantly running into the same problem:

Getting childcare felt harder than it should.

We didn’t want another faceless marketplace.

We wanted something warmer, smarter, and actually useful.

A place where:

  • Parents could find trusted sitters quickly
  • Babysitters felt supported and respected
  • Employers could better support working parents
  • Hotels could offer family-friendly experiences

So we built it.


How it works

Parents share what they’re looking for — timing, location, kids’ ages, and what matters most to their family.

Sitters go through ID verification and screening before joining.

From there, we match families with sitters based on:

  • Personality fit
  • Availability
  • Location
  • Experience

Parents can book casually or use The Village Co. regularly.
