How does the service fee work?

The service fee is charged to the family — not to you. Your rate is your take-home amount.

How it works:

• You set your hourly rate (typically $20 to $30 per hour)
• The family pays your rate plus a 20% service fee on top
• You receive your full hourly rate for every hour worked
• The service fee never comes out of your earnings

Example:
You charge $25 per hour for a 4-hour booking.
You receive: $100
Family pays: $120 ($100 + $20 service fee)

The service fee covers:

• Our concierge matching service
• Sitter vetting and ongoing monitoring
• $2 million Village Sitter Insurance on every booking
• Payment processing via Stripe
• Platform support before, during, and after bookings

There is no signup cost, no placement fee, and no commission taken from your earnings.
