How does the service fee work?
The service fee is charged to the family — not to you. Your rate is your take-home amount.
How it works:
- You set your hourly rate (typically $20 to $30 per hour)
- The family pays your rate plus a 20% service fee on top
- You receive your full hourly rate for every hour worked
- The service fee never comes out of your earnings
Example:
You charge $25 per hour for a 4-hour booking.
You receive: $100
Family pays: $120 ($100 + $20 service fee)
The service fee covers:
- Our concierge matching service
- Sitter vetting and ongoing monitoring
- $2 million Village Sitter Insurance on every booking
- Payment processing via Stripe
- Platform support before, during, and after bookings
There is no signup cost, no placement fee, and no commission taken from your earnings.
