The after-school nanny. The morning-and-evening nanny. The overnight nanny. Whoever your family needs, matched with care, not left to chance.
Get started
Some need someone for the after-school stretch, homework and dinner and the chaos in between. Some need the mornings covered before school and the evenings covered after work. Some need someone overnight, for shift work, travel, or a newborn who doesn't sleep through yet.
Whatever shape your need takes, we shortlist vetted, experienced nannies who fit it, then step back and let Pay The Nanny handle the employer side, so you're never doing this alone.
How it works
Here's exactly what happens, from telling us what you need to Pay The Nanny taking care of the rest.
The after-school nanny. The morning-and-evening nanny. The overnight nanny. The everyday, full-time nanny. Tell us which one fits your family, and what matters most.
Every nanny goes through our six-pillar vetting process before they ever reach your shortlist: Ministry of Justice checks, identity verification, a video interview, first aid certification, ECE qualification review, and parent reviews.
This covers our vetting, interviews, and matching work. No ongoing cut, no hidden percentage.
Once you're matched, we connect you with Pay The Nanny, who handle payroll, tax, and holiday pay compliance as your nanny's legal employer. Mention Village Co when you sign up and get free setup (normally $50) plus 15% off their service, which starts from $13 per week.
Placement fee
A flat, one-off fee, based on the kind of nanny your family needs:
Pickups, homework, dinner, a few afternoons a week — under 10 hrs/week.
$400 one-off placement fee
Before school starts, after work ends — 10–20 hrs/week.
$700 one-off placement fee
Most of the week, close to full-time — 20–35 hrs/week.
$1,200 one-off placement fee
Full days, shift work, or nights — 35+ hrs/week.
$1,800 one-off placement fee
We charge a flat fee rather than a percentage of salary, because we can't guarantee how long a placement will last, and neither can you. This way, you know exactly what you're paying, upfront. If your placement doesn't work out within 3 days of starting, we'll re-match you at no extra cost.
The ongoing cost
Nanny hourly rates in New Zealand typically range from $25 to $32 per hour, depending on experience and hours. Your nanny sets their rate with you directly — we don't take a cut of it. Our placement fee is the only cost you pay us.
Why families choose us
We're not a directory. We don't hand you a list of strangers and wish you luck. Every nanny we recommend has been through the same six-pillar vetting process we use for our sitters, and every placement is backed by our public liability insurance.
Whether you're after the after-school nanny who becomes part of the family, or the overnight nanny who lets you sleep through a hard season, you're not hiring blind. You're hiring with your village behind you.
FAQs
Everything you need to know about nanny placements.

Babysitting is casual, hourly, and booked as needed. A nanny placement is an ongoing arrangement where you become the legal employer, with Pay The Nanny managing the compliance side for you.
We'll re-match you at no extra cost within 3 days of your nanny starting.
No. Our placement fee is one-off. After that, you pay your nanny directly, and Pay The Nanny manages payroll and compliance.
Because we can't guarantee how long a nanny will stay in the role, and it wouldn't be fair to charge as if we could. A flat fee means you know the cost upfront, regardless of how things unfold.
A payroll and compliance service that becomes your nanny's legal employer of record, handling tax, holiday pay, and other obligations, so you don't have to. Their service starts from $13 per week, and families who mention Village Co when signing up get free setup (normally $50) and 15% off.
When you get to their onboarding form, pop "Village Co" in the "Referred by Agency" field. This is what lets them track the partnership and gives you free setup and 15% off.
