What qualifications do I need to become a sitter?

Formal qualifications are not always required to join The Village Co. What matters most is genuine experience with children, reliability, and warmth.

Required for all sitters:

• A current NZ Police check
• Government-issued ID for identity verification
• A clear, friendly profile photo
• A completed profile with a minimum-length bio

Highly valued (but not required):

• First aid or CPR certification
• Childcare diploma or degree
• Early childhood education experience
• Driver's licence
• Special needs experience

Qualifications that get you more matches:
Sitters with first aid certification, a driver's licence, and special needs experience consistently appear in more family matches. Adding these to your profile increases your visibility significantly.
